Principal's Welcome Message

Marshall

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!

My name is Jessica Marshall, and I am Yerba Buena’s Proud Principal.  I joined the YB family in January 2023, following my tenure as Assistant Principal at Lindero Canyon Middle School.  Before that, I was an elementary educator for 17 years in Thousand Oaks.  I enjoyed teaching all levels from Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade.  I am bilingual and biliterate in Spanish.  In my free time, I enjoy hiking, exercising, reading books, attending live music and performances, and spending time at the beach.  My husband, Jonathan, and I have three children: Mia, who is in 11th grade, and twins Andrew and Olivia, who are in 7th grade.  We have two energetic dogs named Tanner and Max, who keep us very busy and active.

As we begin a new school year, this year’s motto, “Make Your Mark”, encourages every student, staff member, and family to contribute in their unique way. Whether through kindness, creativity, hard work, or curiosity, we believe everyone has something special to offer. This year, let’s celebrate the small moments and significant achievements that help shape our school community—and leave a lasting, positive impact.

In addition to our rigorous and engaging curriculum and classroom instruction, we have several programs to foster a multifaceted educational experience. We look forward to expanding our exceptional arts program with the addition of a vocal music teacher, who will provide rich learning experiences for all students through weekly lessons. We will be working on building our character through classroom lessons taught by our school counselor. This year we will continue to build upon our kindness program across our campus and community with student-led initiatives.  Additionally, our students will continue to create, design, and explore in our Innovation Station filled with tech tools, art supplies, and STEAM opportunities.

Safety and a positive school climate is a top priority at YB. I look forward to working together with each of our students, staff members, and families to ensure our campus is a fun and safe place to learn.

It is my goal to be as accessible as possible, so please come by anytime to schedule an appointment or feel free to send me an email or call. We are all here to help your family have an amazing school year!

GO BOBCATS!

 Warmly,

Jessica Marshall
