4/5 Learning Communities PDF Print E-mail
Yerba Buena 4th and 5th grade students will participate in a 4/5 Learning Community where they will be given a unique opportunity to learn side by side. Individual strengths will develop as the eldest members of our community serve as role models for the younger ones.  As a result, participants will develop more profound relationships with each other, as well as increased self-esteem, as they come to depend upon their peers as learning partners.

We are so excited about our restructured community. Homeroom teachers will be focusing on one grade level in Language Arts and then differentiating for that level based on each student’s individual needs. In math, we will continue our "walk to learn" program, which empowers students by grouping them on a recurring basis according to their test performance.

In the afternoon, we will come together in our 4/5 Learning Community and focus on California History and Science, where the bulk of time will be spent on project-based learning and simulations.  We will be mixing the classes for theme-related activities, P.E., computers, music, and special activities.

We look forward to having you join us on our exciting adventure in the 4/5 Learning Community as our students chart a new path along their 21st century educational journey.
