 Without the PFA (Parent Faculty Association), there would be a huge void in enrichment activities for your child! The PFA needs you and your own special talents. Consider volunteering. You get to meet lots of great people, it’s fun, and pretty rewarding to see your results and know you made a difference in the lives of many children, including your own! Plus, it gives your child bragging rights! There are many ways you can help out; here are some of them:
Board of Directors: We need YOU! Being on the PFA board enables you to bring change to our school. It’s a great way to contribute to Yerba Buena, meet people, and make a BIG difference for your child. The following positions are still open for this year:
• Vice-President (Enrichment) – Thank you Andrea Friedline for volunteering!
• Special Events Treasurer – Work with treasurer on fundraisers. Bookkeeping, accounting and computer skills a plus (Quickbooks).
• Parliamentarian – Anyone that is familiar with “Roberts Rule’s of Order” is qualified for this job.
Be part of a committee -- or be the chairperson of one!
Advertising Sales – Sell ads in the directory & the Bobcat Bulletin, and get corporate sponsorships (this year we raised roughly $10,000). Seeking Co-chair.
 Beautification – This committee is back, and ready to make our new school spectacular!
Bobcat Clothing – Keep us lookin’ good!
Bobcat Directory – Prepare the directory. Good organizational skills and computer (Word Perfect) skills a must! Proofreaders welcome!
Bobcat Spirit, Popcorn – Keep us feelin’ good!
Book Fair – Run the book fairs in the fall and the spring; be the contact with Scholastic and set up the B-multi purpose room.
 E-Scrip Marketing – Rally parents to sign up for the best fundraisers of all: E-scrip and Schoolpop.com because they cost parents NOTHING!
Family Date Nights – Mother / Son event, Daddy / Daughter dance. . . you decide!
Fifth Grade Activities – Rite of Passage, Outdoor Ed, Picnic, and special yearbook pages are some of the activities.
Friday Packets – Keep our parents informed of all the great opportunities, activities, fundraisers, etc!
Gift-Wrap Sales / Entertainment Books – Publicize, order, and distribute products. Select the outside company (Goal $15,500).
Great Race – Generate excitement for this fundraiser. (Goal to raise $6-12,000). Organize theme activities and rally interest.
 Great Works of Art – Organize parent volunteers to teach art in the classroom.
Halloween Party – Party planners – this is a FUN one!
Hospitality / Teacher Appreciation – We have great teachers at YB, and they love to be appreciated!
Humanitarian Help – Organize Adopt a Marine, or start something else!
Bobcat Boosters / Invest in Your Child – Plan and implement all phases of PFA direct donation campaign.
Library Coordinator – Keep all those books organized with the Library specialist (paid for with PFA funds).
Music Appreciation – Schedule concert assemblies for our students.
Music Development (classroom) – Coordinate appearances by our Bobcat Band and Bobcat Chorus, enabling our YB students to perform.
Music Van – Organize the Music Van visit for our students to have hands on experience trying different symphony instruments.
Publicity – Get YB great press. PR experience a plus!
Reading Counts – Motivate children to read by helping with the Reading Counts computerized program, and by preparing and distributing prizes.
Reyes Adobe Days – This year is the 25th anniversary of Agoura Hills, so this event will be even bigger than last year at the Reyes Adobe Park.
School Pictures – Coordinate with the photographers and the school to make the day run smoothly.
Silent Auction – Obtain goods and services for a silent auction. Set up the auction.
Spring Event – Organize an adults only or a family event. Fundraising or “fun”-raising, depending on need to support our programs.
 Traffic & Safety - If you want to get involved in city politics and make a huge contribution to our school (bike lane?), this committee is for you!
Volunteer Coordinator – Compiles lists of volunteers for the committee heads, and assists with recruiting.
Webmaster – Check out the "Parents" section of yerbabuenaelementary.org and see the results!
Women in History – Organize volunteers (adults or 5th grade students) to make Women in History come alive for our school.
Yearbook – Organize the yearbook committee to create great pages, and take lots of pictures!
YB Green – Our new Eco awareness movement.
